What happens after death....

........does it really matter ?

With all due respect to the departed soul, Mr. U R Ananthamurthy, may I ask this question lingering in my mind ? Should a democratically elected government in power decide how and when to mourn the death of a notable personality ? Do we have a set of criteria to be meet so that the government can declare a state wide closure of banks, educational institutes and offices to mourn someone’s death ? How does the democratically elected government decide this and yet be impartial ? Clearly we don’t have any rules as such. So again, ‘Should the democratically elected government in power, decide when and how to mourn?’

Shouldn't this power reside with the people of the state or country ? How about declaring the day as a flexible day to mourn ? Meaning, anyone who choose to mourn should be allowed to be on leave this day and then be able to work overtime or on holidays to compensate. Now, that gives the power back to the people instead of forcing this holiday to mourn someone on people and also adding to millions of loss.

As far as the departed soul is concerned, does it really matter to that soul if the state declared a holiday to mourn  ? In his own words from the book Samskara , "Only the form we forge for ourselves in our inmost will is ours without question." If someone mourns the death or  doesn't mourn , shouldn't matter.

What  happens after death doesn't matter. You get buried or burnt, ultimately YOU just dissolve in top soil or thin air and become NOTHING. So if the dead soul doesn’t speak or care, then this move by government in power to declare a forced holiday is just another move to appease a section of society or minds and nothing more. Mourning should be voluntary and should not in any form affect others. Why would you force closure of banks, educational institute and offices, and allow people to be disrespectful of someone’s death because it causes great inconvenience to them ? Since no dead soul can ask this question, I beg all the great souls respected in society and by large section of masses, to include this in their will. “On my death, all business and activities should be as usual. There shouldn't be any state declared holiday, closures or processions. I have received all the love and respect from the people whose life I have touched while I am alive. Therefore, what happens after my death doesn’t really matter to me.”

2014 Indian General Election + Social media + Human nature

The run to 2014 Indian general election with all its arguments and counter arguments over social media, reveals an interesting human nature. The tendency to reject or embrace an idea or a political party based on the negative analysis(drawbacks) is stronger than the positive analysis(strengths).
Meaning, the argument over negative points of a party/idea is substantial over the positive points, leading to the formation of the decision.
Do we observe or practice similar behavior while making critical decisions in our day to day life ? Rejecting based on what’s bad for you instead of embracing what’s good for you? If you look closely, they don’t mean the same because negative and positive points don’t really have a 1:1 proportionality most of the times.

What makes us feel good at work?

What makes us feel good at work?

Dan Ariely is American professor of psychology and behavioral economics. He has conducted numerous experiments and researches mainly in the field of human behavior. I have been following his blog and presentation since few years and this one particular TEDx is inspiring and provides insights into 'what makes us feel good at work'?

You may watch his presentation here http://www.ted.com/talks/dan_ariely_what_makes_us_feel_good_about_our_work.html

You could take away a lot of learning's from this talk, but the one that fascinated me the most was, the origami experiment.
So he called a group of people and divided them into 2 groups. Group A would be given a piece of origami paper with all instructions to create a beautiful duck. Group B would monitor the work of Group A. Once the group A was done with their end product, he asked both the groups to evaluate and put a price tag on the end product. The end product to be honest was not really good as expected because group A didn't have much experience in origami. However when they were asked to evaluate their work, Group A who created the product, priced it much higher than the group B who were evaluating the end product.

Next, he removed the instructions on the origami paper and made it even harder for the Group A to create the end product. So naturally the end product was not that great. However when he asked both the groups to price it. Group A priced it even higher than the previous time and group B even lower than the previous time. So, what this suggests is that. Group B, who is evaluating the end product, did not look at the effort put in to create the product. They were concerned of the value the product provided to them.Naturally, they didn't like the end product and priced it too low the second time. However, Group A who had created the product, put extra effort the second time because they didn't have the instructions and thereby they priced their product even higher, though the end product had deteriorated in quality.

Now, let's correlate this to our work environment. We could probably take 3 learning's from this experiment. These learning's become even more important for our organization since our motto is to keep challenging and innovation is the way to do that.

1. When an employee A, innovates a new process or product and presents it to his manager/lead B, what would happen if the B only looks at the dollar savings due to the innovation and simply puts it aside by comparing it with other innovations within the team? - Can B change the behavior of A by not comparing just the dollar but acknowledging the effort and suggesting a modification or change to the innovation done by A ? Can we award the best innovation but not ignore the smaller accelerators that makes almost the same difference to client satisfaction?

2. Can employee A not get into the paradox of thinking that his or her innovation is the best because of the effort put in? Can employee A conduct a small research to find out how useful the innovation could be to others and then proceed in small steps by involving everyone and getting regular feedback instead of being adamant on 'my way is the highway' theory ?

Sometimes being within the system smudges our thinking. Sometimes we got to get out of the system and just watch it like a movie to understand what's going on and what could be done better. That's where talks, experiments and researches such as this one helps us immensely.

Sachin – Is he really God ?

Should Sachin retire or not? Well, I am not going to answer that now. However, If I am politically right. The question should be answered by the BCCI and its members, that includes Indian cricket team Captain as well.  Let’s list some facts related to Sachin. No, not his cricketing scores.

1.       Sachin is worshipped (if that means follow without questions) around the world.
2.       Sachin is in the minds of people in every cricketing nations . He is also in the minds of people who would want him to retire.

So, that makes him a very high value sportsman to have in a team. High value? Yes. Sponsors don’t spend the money on a team just because they love the team and country. It is business. A team that has a high value asset will be sponsored very well. You think I am wrong? Tell me , oh all the Sachin worshippers and non-worshippers… how many times have you kept everything aside just to watch Sachin bat? Do you see the commercials being played when Sachin bats? They are pretty high value commercial and famous too. How much do you think the BCCI earns from all this ? Well, that shows the BCCI’s reluctance to not follow a plan for transitioning senior players to younger players. An Indian captain can only work with what he has been given. He has very little say when it comes to choosing the  senior players. Imagine what could possibly happen to the moral of that captain ?

One of the Sachin ‘worshiper’ told me that people who don’t know anything or know very little about cricket should not comment on Sachins retirement. Well my friend, your theory is something like, ‘People who don’t know or know very little about science should not discuss Einstein or gravity.’ You discuss, debate and ponder over an issue in everyday life. Did you need practical experience to debate? I don’t think so. You say what you think. You express your point of you. People can take it or leave it. No one has to the right to stop anyone from expressing their point of you. You don’t need to be an architect or understand engineering to admire or criticize  a monument. May be watching monuments around the world is just a hobby. Just like watching cricket.

I think  majority of Sachin followers belong to 2 groups. One group idolizes Sachin to an extent that they think he is God. They don’t want anyone to question their faith or their God. For them, God can do whatever he wants to do, because that’s what God do. Otherwise, he would be human, isn’t it? Right, ok. The other group respects Sachin. They love to watch Sachin bat. They respect him as a person on and off the field. They respect him for being a greatest sportsman in cricketing history. Like I said, they respect him as a “person”.

When you treat a sportsman as a person,  you stop thinking of an individual and start thinking of a team. A winning team. You start admiring a person for his contribution to the team ‘at that moment’ and not in his past. If a player thinks that he can rely on his past glory and blind followers then he will not go for long. He will be dropped. To be dropped after contributing so much for so many years, is surely painful and the second group of Sachins admirers understand that. That is why they want him to gracefully retire. They don’t hate Sachin. They respect him and they would want that respect to remain for ever. For the first category of admirers, all that I can say is that, by making him God you have only set his standards so high that he is not able to maintain it. If you want someone to remain as God in your heart, don’t allow him to fail and push him to despair by setting high hopes. Faith is in the heart of the Beholder.

Sachin once mentioned that, he made a choice and put in hard work to become a cricket player and it is only he who has the right to say if it is time to retire. That doesn’t sound like God at all. Cricket is not an individual player game like tennis. You are just a link in the chain. A weak link does not make a strong chain. It’s the BCCI who makes a decision based on what is good for cricket. Perhaps at this moment they are concentrating on the financial repercussion of dropping someone of his stature. It’s a typical mentality isn’t it? “’Jithna din chalega, chalne do. Bhad mey jaaye honestly aur commitment”. For them Sachin is a trump card, until everyone stops talking about him and the media stops writing about him. And then when a player fades away… that’s the time to drop. Imagine the players state of mind when he is dropped that way. I am sure one would feel used. Isnt it then better to sign off at peak ?? Well, only time…may have an idea. i.e only if ‘Time’ as a variable does exist :P

Happy B'Day Smiley !! :P

Everything feels so less
Where is happiness?

I thought it was in playing in mud,
But soon the mud looked dirty and it was a dud.

Everything feels so less
Where is happiness?

I thought it was in the video game
But soon it was boring and lame.

Everything feels so less
Where is happiness?

I thought it was in my first bike
But soon it looked old and I didn’t like,

Everything feels so less
Where is happiness?

I thought it was in having enough money,
But soon that was not enough and wanted more n more penny

Everything feels so less
Where is happiness?

...Today when I look back I realize

Happiness was never mine
Happiness was always in others smile.

The smile on my mom’s face when she looked at me painted in mud.
The smile on my friends face when we played the game together
The smile on my college crushes when I pulled off stunts on my bike
The smile on that poor kids face who I helped when I had enough money.

My love,
Thank you for making me HAPPY, with your ever loving SMILE!! :)

Your life is too fast. You got to slow down brother !!

Wow . Hold on ‘brother’. First of all, what did you say? Yeah, you get to hear those saintly philosophical words time to time, if you are successful and you ask someone for help !! As a kid I liked to travel a lot in bus. Yeah the typical super express NH-17 bus to hell, direct ticket !! :P So when I got into bus, I usually try to sit in the last row of seats near to the door, just next to the conductor or cleaner( I don’t know who coined this profession). So that was my favorite seat. Cool breese blowing to your face, lot of people to watch, getting into and out of bus. But my most favorite moment is to watch the tar road pass by very fast as the bus moved. So I used to wonder how fast the bus was, but in reality the bus was not that fast. Then after sometime I used to feel nausea and terrible so I would immediately shift my eyesight towards a faraway view. Which almost never moved. Then when I felt better, I would again watch to the road below footboard move terribly fast.

I am sure most of you have experienced this phenomenon as a kid or adult. I feel there is a learning in this to take away. When the bus is moving, and when you look at the road just below, it creates an illusion that your life is fast. The person who is outside watching the bus will also see that the bus is moving fast. However, you and only you know when to stop looking the road below, and not the person outside the bus. Secondly, when you feel like your life is moving uncontrollably very fast, just focus on the long term goals because when you focus on short term goals too much, the time limit is so less that you get an illusion of moving fast. So just like we look at a far view from a bus to get back to normal condition, concentrate on the long term goals. The more far the long term goal is the better because from the bus when you look at the sun or star or moon, it feels like we are not moving at all !!

Just an analogy to share with you. My favorite line, “I am neither RIGHT  nor WRONG, because my thoughts are CENTERed, around the people I observe and the incidents I experience. So believe it or let it be !!” :P

Remember when you see the moon, sun or star from the bus and you feel dizzy. Its time to get down of the bus and walk for some time !! J

Even GOD Knows Politics !! :P

"Nobody can ask God to retire, because in Politics no one retires !! " Good reason for S to join politics !! At least no body can ask him to retire anymore !! He has made his words come true for himself,

Anyway jokes apart, Sachin, good that you joined politics. I mean, you need to be a politician to join BCCI or ICCI right? :P I know it is dadas aim too. Well i hope you both don't fight for this post in future. Otherwise, God of offside will be thrown off from the peoples mind and God of rest of the people will get vacated from their heart permanently.

I think this move of S will be a good image makeover for the politicians. Such is a sad state of Indian politics that even if a good person tries to do something, he gets pulled down. S didnt do well as an Indian captain, I hope he does well as the Captain of his constituency and then nobody will ask him to retire !! Right guys?? :)

I thought I was....

I thought I was the smartest kid in the school
100s of beautiful girls who thought I was a fool.
But, I believed what my eyes had SEEN was love.

And now? Things have changed and how?

I thought I was the most handsome hunk in the college
1000s of girls looking more beautiful at this age
I believed what I FELT in my heart was love.

And now? Things have changed and how?

I thought I was the most eligible bachelor
1000000llions of girls looking more and more spectacular
I believed what I THOUGHT in my mind was love.

And now? Things have changed and how?

Well now,

I think I am the greatest husband
Since the moment I took your hand.
You taught me love is Caring, Sharing and Supporting
Everything else is INFATUATION or nothing.

I promise to keep this definition of love intact
In my mind, body and soul in fact

Thank you, is a smallest phrase I can Say
I would like to wish us a very happy 1st wedding anniversary Day !! :P

No one can ask me to retire, because to play cricket and play for India was my decision – Sachin Tendulkar !!

No one can ask me to retire, because to play cricket and play for India was my decision – Sachin Tendulkar !!
Hmm…. Sachin Tendulkar. One of the biggest cricketing legend, great human and a proud Indian. I once loved him play. I don’t enjoy watching him now as much as I used to watch him few years ago. May be I loved his cricket more than the man he is. Cricket gives you happiness. It makes you proud to be Indian if you love the game. It’s the same with any sport for that matter. So I watch cricket because it makes me happy. When my country gets defeated I get defeated. Therefore I will want my country or team to win. To win we need a team better than any other team. Team is made of people. So we need people who are at the best. Forget the past. It is present and the future that matters to me.

So I was wondering. When I reach 60 and when I am not as smart as the newly recruited young blood in the company, would I tell my company, “Nobody can tell me to retire. Nobody helped me to study. I worked hard to get recruited to this company. So nobody has the right to ask me to retire.” Well I could have told this if I own the company. But I don’t own the company. I am just the part of my team.  So in my 60s can I think like this? “In the past, in my younger days, I have worked really hard in this company and I was called the master in what I did. I set very high standards. I was smart, I brought more business. Now things have changed. The way people do business has changed. I am old now, I am more experienced than these young guys but I don’t have the energy to run behind clients, daily escalations. I still have the same passion but I feel I am letting my team down. I better at least let my employers know when I will retire and take it easy, so that they can recruit a young guy like me who is waiting for his chance to have a go at this world.”

This is my point of view. I am not saying that Sachin should retire. Well I don’t have the rights to say that. However, I have the right to say that my team should not be defeated badly consistently. All the steps should be taken to make sure this doesn’t happen. Nobody is bigger than the team.

Sachin is the greatest player and he is the greatest batsman but the decision to retire is not only his. It should be a collective decision. There are so many young players for whom Sachin is nothing less than God. But they shouldn’t be waiting on the bench for their God to give them a chance to be God.  I am no one to say that Sachin should retire, but the decision is not entirely his. If it is so, then the selectors are just dummies who want to make money with Sachin as brand for Indian cricket. The decision should be mutual and graceful.
Just passion for a thing is not enough. One should every day evaluate if someone can do the job better than them. If the answer is yes, it’s time to pass on the baton. There is no point in holding on to that baton and walk. The young guy on the last lap will die waiting for you to reach him. Your team will be second or third but never first. The passion to run was there but was constrained by physical ability. Even if you are 2nd or 3rd, you will still feel defeated, because you have set so high standard for yourself that people can only accept you as no 1, every time, each time you run. So run that last race, run with all your might, feel peoples love for you, see the respect in their eyes, the same love they had for you when you were at your peak, run as if you are in 20, run the last race, pass on the baton and in the end when you have contributed for the teams win and seen everything in your life, just hang on the boots. Only you know when to run that last race. I like you Sachin but I like my team India more. Now don’t tell me I never played for India, how I would know. I know this for sure, because each time you had that cricket bat in your hand, million hearts prayed that you don’t get out because they wanted India to win !! Why is that today when you hold the same cricket bat I am not much worried? That’s because today Indian cricket has so many match winners who have grown around you and learnt from you. Today when my team is defeated, I don’t blame you. I blame the team, because when I blame you, people come up with facts to support that you are not the guy to be blamed. It is true, you are the best. But God will be questioned, because He is God and every time, his followers will bring the bible, kuran and so on to support that God is greatest, but I just sometimes wonder. If God is really as powerful as people say he is, then why does he need supporters or followers? May be that’s what makes him God !! Ultimately, it’s up to the people who support you. I hope you get good things to hear from everyone when you decide to change your role in Indian cricket and take up bigger, different responsibilities!!

I have a problem with 'INVENTION'

I have a problem with 'Invention' !!

I don’t like the word invention simply because according to my theory nothing can be invented and therefore nothing in this world can be owned. Everything that we do is a discovery!! No matter how big or sophisticated it is. Everything is a projection of the human senses controlled by mind.

Dictionary view for invent is : to design or create something such as a machine or process that did not exist before or to develop a new theory, style, or method that did not exist before. In other words you cannot invent anything that already exists before. Fine. Then did our ancestors really know about fire before it was discovered? Then can we call fire to be an invention?

This is my theory. Nothings that we do or create is our idea. We are not born with an idea to create a television or an extra ordinary time machine. On our journey in this world, we see, touch and feel a lot of things which is processed by our mind. Since each person’s mind is different, the interpretations could be many. There are many factors which affect the though process of a mind. They are all external, they are already present. So in other words, can we infer that discoveries lead to discoveries and not an invention?

Lets look at this story. A young man was wondering through a jungle and he finds a caterpillar. He noticed the ring like thing on the body of caterpillar. He noticed how this is allowing the caterpillar to be very flexible. He came back to town with an idea. We installed ring like structure to the commercially available rubber water hoses. This allowed the pipes to be more flexible and strong. You might have come across these green water pipe with rings in between. So should we call this an invention? I mean could this young man own this? Of course he can claim that he was lucky to come across the caterpillar and his mind had lead him to think this way. What if the young man was lost in the woods and he was scared? Would his mind think about how the caterpillar was sophisticated? I don’t think so. Being at right time, right place and right frame of mind is what leads to discovery and not inventions.

The other reason why i don’t want to call anything as invention because you can patent it and own it. I hate the idea of owning discoveries (I don’t want to use the word invention any more). If someone even comes close to making something which is patented then he is pulled to court. Crazy. This leads to stagnation of an idea. An idea should grow as much as it can. It should not be kept in a high security prison called Patents. I mean patents is fine, if and only if it means that this was first discovered by so and so and nothing more. There shouldn’t be monopoly. Monopoly is against free thinking. A discovery needs free mind and patent kills it !!

I am great believer of Open source. More and more clients and companies are moving towards open source software’s because it is more flexible and economical. There is no monopoly. Its free from the prisons of patents, lawsuit and so on. That’s why it’s Free Source.

There are only discoveries in life. Some big, some small. some simple, some sophisticated. Nothing less, nothing more.

Pro-active to Re-active Expressions !!

Dogs!! I never had one but I love them for one reason. Go home after a long day and these cute ones will jump all over you as if they are seeing you for the first time after many weeks. Wagging tail furiously, licking your face and doing crazy dance suggesting how much it missed you all day. This it does every single day no matter how good or bad it feels. Then you look at you wife or husband, switching tv channels watching their favorite serial or movie, kids fighting in the background, as if you never existed. Makes you wonder why the most intelligent species on this earth has become so busy and self occupied that expression of love or care has just become a give and take business!!

Love is not restricted to Valentine’s Day or on you birthdays or anniversaries, or the day you receive expensive gift. You don’t have to wait that long or choose a date to say how much you love someone. We have replaced human expressions of love with materialistic expressions like diamonds, chocolates or expensive watches. Well, you can’t blame us when our history states that Shahjahan built Taj mahal in memory of dead wife. Well one of his 3 wives. God alone knows which trigonometric equation he used to express his love for 3 wives and 16 children. Anyway, did he have to wait that long to build this wonderful beauty? A wise man had once stated, “You don’t realize what you have until you lose it”. Similarly you don’t realize the value of expression until it’s too late and then you stay with guilt and burden entire life.

“Well I am like this, I have tried but I can’t change”. Is this your conscious telling you? Agreed, that there are positives and negatives in everyone. Also agreed that, the expression of love differs from person to person. Like Archana once stated in her blog, “You can’t be loved the way you want to be loved always. There are different ways to express.” However, there is no point in hiding behind the fact that there is no replacement for words and touch. I am not talking about Shakespeare here. Simple words like I miss you, thinking about you, I love you can do wonders to a relationship. Mean it when you say it and use it at a most unexpected time. Don’t wait for each other to say it first. It is reactive expression. “Pehley aap pehley aap kehkey gaadi chali jayegi”. Are you reactive? Do you find yourself saying, “Let him/her say it first then I will”, “Why should I always?” A reactive expression sounds like a bad business. It’s a business because you are looking at what you get in return and you don’t want to invest until then. It’s a bad business because, always one person finds him/her expressing a lot and other only reacting. This lets a lot of doubts get into the persons mind. “Am I loved the way I love or am I just listening to my echo?”

Hence the need for proactive expression. Whatever you do, do it proactively. Take the first step. Offer the help, don’t wait for the other person to ask. Express your feelings don’t always expect it from others. People change but change should happen from within. There is no point in someone pointing out and then holding that person responsible all your life for bringing in change in you that you didn’t wish to have. Don’t hide behind the screen of “I am like this, this is me.” It doesn’t help the relationship grow.

You don’t need commitment to do what you love but you need it a lot to do what you don’t like, but you have no choice. For example, you don’t need commitment to go to movie but to get up early morning every day and report to work every day, needs a commitment. Similarly in relationships if you are committed to make it work, then one can’t hide behind the fact that they are what they are. You must have listened to some old saying, “Relationship is like two wheels of the cart. If one stops reacting, or if one is too fast, you go around in circles.” And if one wheel starts going in opposite direction, the cart will break……….

Express proactively. Watch, learn and grow!!

D.I.W.A.L.I: Dear Idiots, Wish All Lots of Intelligence !!

Yes, that’s right. This is what I wished this diwali. Had I gone crazy? Well, definitely a loud, ‘Yes’ is what I can hear. Yes I was saddened how things had turned up in office but that was not just it. Loads of sms and emails wishing all a happy and ‘SAFE’ diwali. What ‘SAFE’ ? The only safety this diwali was in getting buried 10 feet under !! Thank God you didn’t give us the idea to invent a diwali rocket which drills down to earth and blasts !!

Men are crazy little devils and girls are sweet angels !! I am yet to find a guy ( I don’t think this was guy. I can bet my life on this, but then I think of Romeo, Majnu and their 1 gram brains) who incepted this idea into the world. As kids boys like fast cars making noise and girls like quite Barbie dolls. As they grow up, boys like speed, sound and action, girls like peace, calm and serenity. Hmm.. this idiotic generalization is slowly becoming so very untrue. I can see girls riding fast cars, bikes and speaking awesome vocabulary in roadies. However, lets assume that this is true. Now, imagine if this is reversed. What if girls start liking cars and boys start liking Barbie dolls? The car would be found in the bath tub. You know she actually didn’t mean to do that, she was just trying to clean the car. Dumbness associated with madness is the most dangerous thing in this world. I realized this last Saturday night. Could have been easily my last !!

I don’t blast crackers anymore. May be I have lost interest or maybe I don’t like the smell, but I don’t buy them anymore. The noise and the sound pollution it causes is beyond the imagination. The ill effects, don’t talk about it. I am still suffering. On the Saturday night, the street was filled with ankle deep waste papers left over by those crackers. I could not see a thing in front of me. It was covered with smoke. The entire street. I had to go out to get something to eat. I am looking at the street for any bombs being just lit to blast. I dodged few. I had to concentrate very hard on the road. Suddenly I hear this hissing sound and I knew, I am done. Somebody has lit a cracker and its right behind me and this is it, defining moment of my life. Surprisingly the hissing sound came from top, the cracker is falling down, it crossed my eye sight, reached the ground, bounced once. All this is being played in slow motion. I don’t know what’s with human mind. In a life threatening situation when you know that this is it, there is no where you can go, nowhere to hide and nothing to do but watch, things just freeze and then there is a slow motion of events and then there is flash back of your entire life. All this in just seconds. Ask someone who was saved just seconds before drowning. So the cracker hits the road, bounces once, the hissing increases, its just about to explode, bounces twice right at my feet and fusssssssssssssssssss….. A big relief to me. I am looking at the cracker and can’t believe my eyes that it didn’t blast. I don’t know whom to thank, but right now I am in no mood to thank. I am in a mood to blast the person who sent this cracker flying over my head. So I look up to the terrace of the 2 storey building and am shocked at what I see. 3 beautiful girls with a candle in handle, giggling away in glory as if they have accomplished a successful bomb drop mission, ready to drop another one !! What should I say? Should I say, “Chooow Chweet, hooow innocent.” Or should I use my Bangalore vocabulary? Anyway I was too shocked to even move out of that place. I was not shocked at their beauty, I was shocked at their dumbness. Just then a old man, who was observing this across the shop shouts at the top of his voice and the girls just look at each other as if they are surprised. I felt like flying to the terrace like a bat man and drop them from there like a jocker. So the girls shouted back at that old man and ran away. Probably to pour oil on the burning man I guess !! :P

Thanks to the pollution and the weather, almost everyone I meet in Bangalore is sick with cold or fever since two days and obviously I haven’t escaped this either. I am suffering from fever and cold since 2 days and cant sleep at night because the crackers are being burst even after 10 pm till midnight. I felt like sticking a rocket to the persons rear, firing it up and saying, “The party is over my friend. Come back next diwali. I hope you enjoy your solo flight !!”. Folks, its over, stop bursting crackers, please be sensitive, if not for animals at least to your neighbors. Someday you will have a kid in house who will scream at every cracker you burst at night. Imagine how much pain small kids go through due to this sudden sound and air pollution. Many kids lost their eyesight. I don’t blame the kids. I blame their parents. A 10th standard kid committed suicide because his parent refused to allow him to play with crackers. What’s up with the kids nowadays?

We see the following things rise in our environment during diwali, cadmium, lead, copper, manganese, zinc, sodium, magnesium, potassium, nitrates, sulphur, phosphates, carbon monoxide. You name it and you have it. Is this what you would like to give to innocent kids?

Your choice.

“Give them sweets or kill them by feeding these metals”

“True, it’s the festival of lights, please spare the light of your life”

“Celebrate darkness to light not light to darkness.”

Check out eco friendly cracker.

My Story, Ur Story, Our Story: A tale of Tree, Creeper and a Bird !!

Far away in the jungle there lived a beautiful green creeper,
Covered the bark and branch of an old tree like armor
Creeper had beautiful bright fruits on it
A hungry tired bird rested on the branch for a bit

The bird from mystery land eats the fruit
Takes the seed in its beak and flies away on a pursuit
It sits on a small charming plant to rest
The seed is heavy, so drops it and flies to the west

After many years, the old bird comes across a beautiful tree
Decides to sit on the branch strong and dandy
“I haven’t seen anything beautiful than this” the bird claimed
“oh sweet bird, did you forget us?” The tree blamed

“Long ago you had rested on my tiny shoulders,
In return you had gifted me this seed, and now we are lovers”
The beauty you see around me is from this wonderful creeper
She is my life and our bounding has grown deeper and deeper

We have been through many tough weather and seasons
We have grown together even though we argue on many reasons
She makes me look special and I provide her the support
We are best friend, thanks for the seed, which you did once transport !!

Listening to this the bird replies,
“Oh my child, I am a messenger in disguise
He had sealed your fate long ago
I just carry out the His orders, now you know !!

Let no rain, sun, wind separate you both
Let love, peace, sanity help your growth”
The bird plucked one fruit from the tree and said,
“Marriages are made in heaven, but here on earth you wed”

Note: To all who have found there creeper and tree. To all who are waiting for the bird. To all who have grown beautifully complementing each other and set an example !!

RAINY AFFAIRS…… !!

The rain drops falls on the green leaf. The leaf bends as the rain drop slides over it. The drop reaches the tip of the leaf. The sun shine reflects from the drop. The rain drop looks like a droplet of glittering gold. The leaf cannot bear it anymore. The drop slips down on the still water, bounces and then falls again creating many ripples. The dead yellow leaf floating on the still water now dances along with the ripple. The water becomes still again, the yellow leaf tired after dancing is floating. The leaf is about to recover, just then another drop of rain falls on the leaf. The show continues…..

A child playing with water. The stream of water fascinates him. He creates a paper boat with love. Set it on sail along the stream of water. The boat dances down the stream. The boy follows with the wide smile and jumping with joy, clapping hands. The boat collides with the rock and turns upside down. The smile fades. Just then, the frog lying lazily on the rock jump near the boat. The boat turns back and starts dancing down again. The smile returns. Mom calls the boy inside home. The boy runs away. The boat reaches pool, it tired and wet, dives to the bottom. The frog is back on the rock.

The clothes are hanging and swinging to the music of the wind. A woman runs to catch them before it rains again. One of the mischievous clothes jumps and fly’s away. The woman follows it. The clothe hides on the top of the bush. The woman reaches out to catch it. Just then the wind blows and the clothe escapes flying high. The frown on the face, she looks down. The clothe swings in the wind teasing the woman. The wind stops, the clothe floats down swinging from one end to another and falls on the feat of the woman. The smile returns.

A small girl with her yellow raincoat and pink umbrella swirls it splashing the water. She jumps on the puddle of water. The water escapes from the puddle and falls on the neighboring puddle. She giggles. The girl follows and jumps on the other puddle. The water escapes again. They play this catch me if you can until she reaches home. A woman talks to her and the girl is looking down at her shoes. The smile is gone. The woman returns inside house. The girl jumps on the nearby puddle, and both the water and girl giggle to glory.

White smoke is gushing out of the chimney from far. It reaches out meet the rainbow. The bird is curious fly’s towards it to watch it. Somewhere in the fields a peacock spreads her beautiful feather and makes a jig to compete with the rainbow. A flash of light and thunder. The dog runs to take shelter. He looks at me and wags his tail, curious to know why I was spreading my arms and enjoying the rain drops on my face and palm. The rain drops pierces through my face and my soul. I am neither in future nor in past. This is a magical moment, wherein the heaven comes to meet me. This is one of THE moments of my life time!!

U R Not Cinderella / Charming Prince…. !!

You are not Cinderella or charming prince on white horse,
just simple human being, not a brand to endorse.

Gold, Armani suites, bungalows, BMW’s is just a dream
The meaning of life is deeper, these are just the cream.
Outer Beauty is not a virtue, to be admired, it will fade out
Kindness, Compassion, Intelligence and humility, it’s all about.

You are not Cinderella or charming prince on white horse,
just simple human being, not a brand to endorse.

Fame, Wealth and Power will bring happiness for a while
Family, relationship, people will accompany you on a long mile.
Did you forget the days when meeting friends and relatives brought joy
Now responsibility, commitment and patience, why does it annoy?

You are not Cinderella or charming prince on white horse,
just simple human being, not a brand to endorse.

Those days, smell of wet soil brought smile
Today it’s the scent of money, is it worthwhile?
Those days, we cried and wept at broken toy
Today we weep at broken heart, family and home, oh boy !!

You are not Cinderella or charming prince on white horse,
just simple human being, not a brand to endorse.

Life is as complicated or simple as we try to make it
Think with a child like innocent mind and fix it.
Life is surely a costly gift but not delivered to you on a silver plate
How many time you get up, dust off and move on will seal your fate.

You are not Cinderella or charming prince on white horse,
just simple human being, not a brand to endorse.

DAWN 2 DUSK !!

Dawn to Dusk is the story of my life

‘Me, I, We to They’ is a long strife

Hey it’s ‘Me’. The center of everyone’s world

Just arrived, with my fingers all curled

Never felt so fearless and bold

‘My little sweet pie” she told

Sucking thumb was so much fun

They fooled me with pacifier, but hey thanks’ a ton!!

Dawn to Dusk is the story of my life

‘Me, I, We to They’ is a long strife

I am the world’s greatest man

Nothing is impossible, always thought ‘I can’

Everything starts and ends with me,

For all the locks in this world, I am the only key

Dawn to Dusk is the story of my life

‘Me, I, We to They’ is a long strife

‘We’ is such a fantastic thing

I felt like having a pair of wing

There is something in life and love

Even my little jimmy agrees, ‘bow-wow’

Dawn to Dusk is the story of my life

‘Me, I, We to They’ is a long strife

‘They’ have been so good to me

In this world, they gave me everything without a fee

Who am ‘I’? It’s all about ‘them’,

I am just a dying leaf, they are the stem.

Dawn to Dusk is the story of my life

‘Me, I, We to They’ is a long strife

I like this symbol. Well i didnt know the meaning, but somehow I felt it kewl !! U know what I mean. So, since I find it kewl, I know I cant just sit quitely without doing something about it. So, I did this. I know I am the biggest brand(poda poruki, barri oolu). Let me finish. I know I am the biggest brand untill I step out of the house door, I decided to use the symbol this way and share it with my friends. Now, whoever has got ’R' (Raj is even better :P) in their name, what are you waiting for? Go ahead, spread the kewl symbol !!
